Sin is Overrated

Don’t believe the hype…Sin is overrated!

Jesus died for your sin, so you wouldn’t have to! That’s the gospel in ten words. Whoever believes this will not die forever, but live forever. Do you have a sin problem? We all did. Until Jesus died for them. Now we live through the faith in knowing that He rose from the dead so that we can all live beyond the influence and penalty of sin. He has forgiven us of ALL of our sins, our disobedient and rebellious actions against God. Since God went through such great lengths to get us out of sin and restore us to Himself, our decision to ignore His sacrifice is now sin. In other words sin is no longer a matter of what we do, but a matter of what we believe. Paul wrote in Romans 14:23 “Whatever is not of faith is sin” because we now walk by faith and not by sight. Every human is a believer by nature. We live by what we believe. Whatever we believe, we live. What do you believe? Jesus taught us “If you can believe, all things are possible to Him.” (Mark 9:23) Is it possible that we make sin possible in our lives by believing in it? I believe many Christians are believing the wrong thing when it comes to sin. Most Christians believe they are sinful more than they are righteous! They believe that if they sin, they are not as holy as before, and should be concerned about the devil or sickness of some sort to come upon them because they did something wrong. This is unbelief! Most people sin by faith because they believe in sin!

Jesus Mind Principle #21: Live as if sin is dead…because it is.

What part of finished don’t you understand? If the lamb of God came to take away the sins of the world, we are the ones holding on to the sins of the world. Our belief in sin gives sin the permission to remain in our lives. Under the new covenant God said our sins and iniquities He will remember no more. (Hebrews 8:12) Jesus has already forgiven the world of its sin. However It’s only those who believe in what He did  that receive His forgiveness. (John 3:16-18) He sent the Holy Spirit to convict the world of its sin. What sin? Homosexuality? Murder? Divorce? Jesus said, “sin because they believe not on ME.” (John 16:9) De you believe He has forgiven you, once and for all? (Hebrews 10:10-12) Forgiven means He has let it go, set you free from, no longer holds an account over you. He’s not remembering it so why are you? If He doesn’t want you to remember it, the only person that does is the enemy of your soul. The enemy will remind you of your sin, hold you to it, make others condemn you of it, accuse you of your past…anything it takes to keep you feeling and believing that sin is in your life. The enemy hides through religion and tradition in this case. As long as you believe in sin, sin remains there. As long as you believe in sin, you will continue to sin. Demonic spirits, curses, sickness and disease, poverty etc. all attach themselves to the sin in your life. If you believe there is no sin in your life because Jesus finished sin on the cross, by God’s grace everything evil no longer has permission to remain in your life. His blood has washed you completely and cries “not guilty” over you. Remember “As He is so are we in this world.” (1 John 4:17) He is not sin, He is righteousness. Therefore we are the righteousness of God! What part of finished don’t you understand? It’s time for us to lose our faith in sin and believe in how righteous we really are in Christ!

Romans 6:6-11 “Could it be any clearer? Our old way of life was nailed to the cross with Christ, a decisive end to that sin-miserable life-no longer at sin’s every beck and call! What we believe is this: If we get included in Christ’s sin-conquering death, we also get included in life-saving resurrection. We know that when Jesus was raised from the dead it was a signal of the end of death-as-the-end. Never again will death have the last word. When Jesus died, He took sin down with Him, but alive he brings God down to us. From now on, think of it this way: Sin speaks a dead language that means nothing to you; God speaks your mother tongue, and you hang on every word. You are dead to sin and alive to God. That’s what Jesus did.” (Msg version)

Believe that He has set you free from sin, forgiven you of it ALL, past, present and future…and live WHOLE-HEARTEDLY according to what He says you are in Christ. You are the righteousness of God. Other believers around you are just as righteous as you. Doesn’t matter if they were born again 10 years ago, 1 year ago or today while reading this post. We have the same righteousness. Not our works, efforts or religious performance. It’s Jesus..Jehovah Tsidkenu=The Lord our righteousness! (1 Corinthians 1:30) Believe that! We can never move on to perfection, maturation if we don’t get the faith to believe that sin is no longer an issue. What matters to God is me believing in Him, His finished work on the cross for me and what He now says about me. The only sin that now separates anyone from Him is unbelief (John 16:9) because the only way we can live right is if we believe right! Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved.
